Optional Leave in Place Kit

The Universal HingeTMbrand Bolt-on Hinge bolts on to a cover and mating flange utilizing the existing bolt holes. Typically, two of the existing studs or bolts are removed and replaced with the Universal HingeTMbrand specially designed pin which secures the hinge to the cover and mating flange. After inspection or maintenance of the equipment, the pin is removed, and the hinge is removed and can be stored for future use. The original studs or bolts are replaced to secure the cover to the mating flange and place the item back in service.

Universal Hinge Corp. offers an optional "leave in place" kit. This kit facilitates leaving the hinge in place and eliminates the necessity of removing and storing the hinge. The original existing studs or bolts are replaced with studs or bolts suitable to extend through the hinge plates, the cover and the mating flange, so the hinge is fixed on to the cover and mating flange. The next time it is necessary to open the cover, one kit bolt is removed and replaced with two of the Universal HingeTMbrand special pins: one pin in the cover and one pin in the mating flange. After one bolt is removed and replaced with the two special pins, the same procedure is performed on the second kit bolt. Once both kit bolts are removed and replaced with the special pins, the hinge is ready for use. Simply remove the studs or bolts fixing the cover to the mating flange and swing the cover open. When inspection and or maintenance is complete, reverse the process. The cover is closed, the cover studs or bolts are replaced, the hinge is secured to the cover and flange using the kit bolts, and the equipment is placed back in service.
